I'm looking for a cabbage recipe which had red wine vinager in it.?

This particular recipe was served in a bread roll with a sausage but something similar would be good.I'm looking for a cabbage recipe which had red wine vinager in it.?
Sounds like a German dish. Vinegar is used to keep the cabbage red. The cabbage can be fried with bacon(or bacon grease), onion, caraway seed. Add sugar and red wine vinegar to form a sweet and sour coating to the cabbage. It goes well with sausage on a roll( Hot dog). It is best with a grilled Bratwurst and Course Ground Brown Bavarian Mustard. Das ist gut, nict var??I'm looking for a cabbage recipe which had red wine vinager in it.?

2 teaspoons cold water ,(to thicken when done)

In a large stew pot or Dutch oven, toss cabbage, apples and onion. Add water, vinegar, sugar, butter and salt and spice bag. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1- 1 1/2 hours.

remove the spice bag. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and cold water until smooth; stir into the cabbage mixture. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thick.

Here are 2 recipes i've tried out...

Ingredients

1 kg Red Cabbage

50 gr. Butter

1/2 Onion

1 teaspoon Sugar

1 Apple (play with the varieties..it makes it tart or sweet depending on how you like it)

3 Red Wine vinegar

2 Red Wine,

1 desertspoon Plain Flour

1 Bay Leaf

3 Cloves

3 Juniper Berrier

A little Apple Juice (Cider also works)

Salt Pepper

Method

Clean the Red Cabbage and cut finely. Peel and finely cut (very small cubes) the Onion and Apple.

In a (very) large pan melt the butter, add the onion, apple and sugar.

After a couple of minutes add the Cabbage once it is settled in the pan add the Vinegar.

This should develop a wonderful reddish purple colour.

Next add the red Wine, a little apple juice, salt, pepper, Bayleaf, Cloves and Junier Berries and mix in well stirring to keep the cabbage from catching.

Cover on a low heat for 40-50 minutes (until well cooked)

Just before serving, add the flour mixed with a little water (or more apple, you can never have enough of the mixed taste) and add to the cabbage to thicken.

When serving, remove the Bayleaf,, Cloves and Juniper Berries.

This goes particularly well with Duck, Roast Pork and gravy etc.
